Bevelboxanddriveshaftspecification

TheRocket111isfittedwithashaftdrivecouplingthetransmissiontothebevelboxattherear wheel.Thedriveshaftisfittedwith asingleHookesuniversaljointwhichrequiresnomaintenance.

Thebevelboxconsistsofacrownwheelandpinionarrangementthathasnodealerserviceableparts.Maintenanceconsistssolelyofroutineoillevelchecksandoilchanges.

ThebevelboxmustbefilledandtoppedupwithMobilMobilube1 SHC75W/90fullysynthetichypoidoilorequivalent.

1. Removethefiller/levelplug.

2. Haveanassistantstandthebikeupright.

3. FillthebevelboxwithMobilube1 SHC75W/90fullysynthetichypoidoil(orequivalent)until thelevel ofoilinsidetheunitis levelwiththebottomofthefiller.

4. Refittheplugandtightento60Nm.

1. Positionacontainerbeneaththebevelboxdrainplug.

2.Drainplug

2. Removethedrainplugandallowtheoiltofullydrainout.

3. Wipethedrainplugcleanthenrefitandtightenitto15Nm.

Note:

• The drainplugismagnetic.Itisnormalformetallicdepositstobeattached tothedrainplugmagnet.

Removethefillerplug.

Haveanassistantstandthebikeuprightduringfilling.

FillthebevelboxwithMobilube1SHC75W/90fullysynthetichypoidoilorequivalentuntilthelevelofoilinsidetheunitislevelwiththebottomofthefiller.

Refittheplugandtightento60 Nm.

1.Supportthemotorcyclesothattherearwheelisclearoftheground.

2. Removetherearwheelasdescribedonpage

16.8.

2. Removethelefthandrearsuspensionunitasdescribedonpage13.4.

4.Releasethefournutssecuringthebevelboxtotheswingingarm.

5. Ease thebevelboxtowardstherearofthemotorcycle,detachingthepinioncouplerfromthedriveshaft.

Installation

Note:

• Priortoinstallation,checkthatthedriveshaftissupportedbythesleeveinsidetheswingingarm.Rectifyasnecessary.

1. Applyasmearof MolybdenumDisulphidegreasetothedriveshaftsplinesandwheeldrivenflange.

2. Positionthebevelboxtothedriveshaftengagingthepinioncoupleranddriveshaftatthesametime.
