BatteryRemoval

1. Removetherider'sseat.

2. Liftupthetoolboxatitsfrontedgeandpivotiitowardstherearofthemotorcycle.

3. Removethe batterystrap.

4. Disconnectthebatteryleads,negative(black)leadfirst.

5. Takethe batteryoutofthecase.

BatteryDisposal

Shouldthebatteryeverrequirereplacement,theoriginalbatterymustbehandedtoarecyclingagentwhowillensurethatthedangeroussubstancesfromwhichthebatteryismanufactureddonotpollutetheenvironment.

BatteryInstallation

NewBatteryCommissioning

1. Placethebatteryinthebatterycase.

2. Reconnectthebattery,positive(red)leadfirst.

3. Applyalightcoatofgreasetotheterminalstopreventcorrosion.

4. Coverthepositiveterminalwiththeprotectivecap.

5. Refitthebatterystrap.

6. Lowerthetoolkittrayintoplace.

7. Refittherider'sseatasdescribedonpage17.9.

Toensurethatanewbatteryiscorrectlycommissionedandwilldelivermaximumcapacityforstarting,thefollowingproceduremustbefollowed.

1. Readtheinstructionsand warningsdeliveredwiththebattery!

2. Placethebatteryonaflatlevelsurfaceand

removethesealingfoil.

3. Removethebatterysealingstripfrom theelectrolytecontainer(iffitted)andsaveforuselaterinthisprocedure.Donotbreakthesealontheelectrolytecontainer.

4. Placetheelectrolytecontainerandadapter (ifsupplied)onthebatteryandfillthebatteryaccordingtothemanufacturersinstructions.

5. Afterstartingtofillthebatterywithelectrolyte,allowthebatterytostandfor30minuteswiththefillingcontainerinplace.

6. Checkthatalloftheelectrolytehasdrainedfromthecontainer,donotremovecontaineratthispoint.Ifthecontainerhasnotcompletelydrained,gentlytapthesidesofthecontainertostarttheelectrolyteflowingagain.

7. Afteralloftheelectrolytehasdrainedintothebattery,allowthebatterytostand,withtheelectrolyte containerinplace,for afurther30minutesforbatteries3Ah-12Ahor1hourforbatteriesgreaterthan12Ah.

8. Removetheelectrolytecontainerandadaptercarefully,anddisposeofbothimmediately.

9. Fitthesealingcapstothebatteryaccordingtothebatterymanufacturersinstructions.

10. Measuretheterminalvoltageonthebatterytoassessthebatterycondition.

11. Chargethebatteryasnecessary(seetableofchargingtime)usingasuitablecharger(i.e.acharger withasuitablycontrolledchargingcurrentandappropriatecutoffvoltage.)
