BrakeFluidLevelInspection

Inaccordancewiththescheduledmaintenancechart,inspectthebrakefluidlevelinthe frontandrearmastercylinderreservoirs.

1.Ensurethatthebrakefluidlevelinthefrontandrearbrakefluidreservoirsisbetweentheupperandlowerlevellines(reservoirheldhorizontal).

ChangingBrakeFluid

Brake fluidmustbechangedeverytwocalendaryears,irrespectiveofthemileagethemotorcyclehascoveredinthattime.

BrakePads

Frontandrearbrakepadwearisautomaticallycompensatedforandhasnoeffectonbrakeleverorpedalaction.

BrakeWearInspection

Inaccordancewith thescheduledmaintenancechart,inspectthebrakepadsforwear.Theminimumthicknessofliningmaterialforanyfrontorrearbrakepadis1.5mm.Ifanypadhasworntothebottomofthegrooveinthepadcentre,replaceallthebrakepadsonthatwheel.

BleedingtheFrontBrakes,RenewingBrakeFluid

  1. Placetheotherendofthetube inasuitablereceptaclecontainingnewbrakefluid.

  2. Turnthehandlebarstobringthefluidreservoirtoalevelposition.

  3. Removethescrewsfromthereservoircover.

1.Notetheoriginalsettingofthebrakeleveradjusterinorderthatitcanbereturnedtothesamepositionwhenthebleedingoperationiscomplete.SetthebrakeleveradjustertopositionNo.1.

  1. Lever

  2. Adjusterwheel

  3. Triangularmark

  1. Removethecapfromthebleednippleontherighthandcaliper.

  2. Attachatransparenttubetothebleednipple.

  1. Carefullyremove thereservoircovertakingcarenottospillanyfluid.

  2. Checktheconditionofthesealingdiaphragmforthereservoir.Replaceifnecessary.
