Предисловие
Данное учебное пособие предназначено для тех, кто совершенствует свои знания английского языка. Настоящее пособие помогает овладеть некоторыми особенностями разговорного стиля английского языка: фразеологическими сочетаниями, фразовыми глаголами и идиомами.

В каждом уроке приводится список наиболее употребительных фразовых глаголов и фразеологических сочетаний в рамках вышеперечисленной тематики, значения которых поясняются на русском и английском языках и иллюстрируются примерами. В каждом из уроков содержится тематический текст или диалог и система упражнений, направленных на формирование навыка владения фразовыми глаголами и фразеологическими сочетаниями в устной речи.

1. After lunch we got down to business of discussing the issue of job redundancies.
2. Billy was the youngest boy on the hike, but he kept up with the others.
3. Mrs. Smith kept buying every new thing that was advertised. Finally Mr. Smith told her to stop trying to keep up with the Joneses and to start thinking for herself.
4. The police took down our addresses and phone numbers.
5. After five miles Ann was tired and started to fall behind.
6. Please hand in your keys when you leave the hotel.
7. All essays must be handed in by Tuesday.
8. Never put off till tomorrow what we can do today.
9. Some people think it’s easy to get through a driving test but they’re mistaken.
10.He just managed to scrape through the entrance exam.
11.Mary missed two weeks of school; she must work hard to catch up with the class.
12. After writing a test I usually go through it before handing it in.
