The text below contains 5 imperative sentences as tips for new grads on how to do the job search. Go through the text carefully and circle them!

If you have not been offered a position straight after graduation, this is not the end of the world. There are many ways to find one on your own.

Many unemployed people get registered at the local labour exchange or job centre. They apply for a certain kind of job and consider the offers available. I there are no positions available, the job centre advisors may call you later. Another traditional way is to keep track of the want ads in newspapers.

There are other smarter ways too. Create an online profile and get registered at a recruitment agency site like headhunter.com.ua or rabota.ua or work.ua. Their job is to help headhunters and job hunters meet. Employers send them lists of available vacancies with job descriptions and their requirements for the candidates: the age, education, qualifications, skills, language competence, etc. So, when you send your application, and your education, qualifications, skills and language competence are a good match for the job, the recruiters may recommend you for the position.

But you don't have to rely only on others in your job search. Create a video resume and post it on YouTube, for example. It's a great way to have employers find you. It is a good idea to create more than one resume if you double-majored in two subjects, English and marketing, for example. So, one resume may highlight you language skills and the other your interests and skills in advertising and brands.

Networking is very helpful too. Ask others for help. Your former teachers, your relatives and friends, social and community contacts. They may know something you don't know about, who and where has gone on maternity leave or has resigned, for example. Log on LinkedIn! All job seekers should be there. It's the largest professional network which may help you with your job hunting. You must also have networking cards at hand.

You may already know what companies you'd like to work for. If go, follow them on Twitter. You can learn a lot about a company if you read their posts. Also, you may learn about new jobs as they become available.
