6. New life Challenges

If it is your first time living on your own, it will take you some time to adjust to your independence and develop life skills such as listed below. Which is the most challenging one? Why? 8. Fight the gossip!

1. Here is a true story of a former student. Read it carefully.

I loved university. I remember my first day at the at the dean's office when I needed to enroll in my classes. They were so friendly at the university and really helpful too. Undergrad was amazing! I met tons of cool people. In my psychology class we even formed a study group. Every day we hit the books. On a final exam we all aced the test. Before I had studied for weeks before, I didn’t have to cram or pull an all-nighter. My instructor was really happy with our marks. He introduced us to the dean. In my senior year he gave me such a good reference, I was able to get into a master's program. Eventually I became a grad student and a TA.

b) Listen to your instructor reading the story of the same student that has been changed through gossip. Put down the key words so that you remember what is not true in the story you hear. Discuss the false statements with your fellow students.
