  1. Guess what my job is! (Typical job questions)

One of the students thinks of a job, say lawyer, and acts like one. All the others ask him/her the following questions one by one until it becomes clear what job he/she "represents". The "actor" should not give direct answers to the first two questions (e.g. Instead of saying "I work in a hospital" say "I work indoors in a place with a lot of people coming in and out.")

Where do you work?

When do you start/finish?

When are you off?

When do you get off work?

What are your main responsibilities?

What is your daily routine?

Can you have some time off whenever you want?

How much holiday do you get?

Do you work shifts? Or flexi-time?

What are your working hours?

Do you do / work any overtime?

What do you like about your job?

What do you find difficult about working there?

  1. Job Satisfaction and Work Burnout

5-minute brainstorming

Get divided into two teams. Team 1 is to think of and put down in key words the factors of job satisfaction. Team 2 is to think of and put down in key words the causes of work burnout. Each team have 5 minutes to complete the tasks. The team having more ideas for their topic wins.

JS or WB?

  1. Go through the following comments and figure out which of them identify job satisfaction (JS) and which ones belong to a person suffering work burnout (WB). Mark them as JS or WB correspondingly.

  2. Summarize the information from the comments and say what the symptoms of work burnout are and what factors contribute to job satisfaction.

  • I feel my boss and colleagues respect and appreciate me. It's very encouraging______
