Congratulations! You are a university student! A new life, a new environment, a new you! How does it feel to be a student? How has your social life changed? Let us do a survey to find out more about you as a student.
How does it feel to be a student?
(Journalists and Respondents Game)
Get divided into two teams: the Journalists and the Respondents. Each journalist picks one question for the survey. They walk round the room and collect answers for their questions from the respondents. Having received all the answers, the journalists make their report.
e.g. 5 students of our group come from Vinnytsia, so they are living with their parents. 3 of us are living in the hall of residence. 2 of my fellow-students are renting a room.
What do you like about the academic life at our university?
the double-periods;
lectures separated from practical classes;
the Bolognian system of assessment;
anything else.
How does it feel to be a student?
It's great. I feel I am becoming more independent and responsible.
I have mixed feelings about my new life.
It's a challenge. I feel lost and helpless.
Where are you living?
at home;
in the student hall;
in private rented accommodation.
What things are challenging for you?
being away from home;
cooking your own meals and doing the chores alone;
a lot of new people and rules;
anything else.
What things are you enjoying at your uni?
no subjects that I hated at school;
the academic atmosphere;
good relations with my fellow-students.
What do you think about the people at the university?
they are fun and nice to talk to;
they are not different from my school friends;
I have a lot in common with them.
What 3 things will you remember from your first week at university?
What thing is absolutely necessary for you as a student (your laptop, your mobile phone etc.)
Where did you take your first selfies at the university?
in one of the classrooms;
at the fountain;
elsewhere.
Give three tips on how to adjust to university life.
