Shops and shopping.
I should say that I am one of those boys who hate shopping ,of course, I like delicious food and nice clothes. It means somebody has to do it for you. In our family it’s my mother’s responsibility. She knows what to buy and where to buy at a cheaper price. I live in a small town, so there are not many shops here, to say nothing of supermarkets. Most shops are situated in the centre of the town and there is a two-storeyed department store in the central square and it is always overcrowded. The market is opposite the department store and people, mostly women and girls, go there to shop but in my opinion they more often go to look at the things than to buy. I don’t understand this kind of pastime. I seldom go shopping, but I know where this or that thing can be bought. For example, if I want to save time, I go to the nearest food store where I can buy everything I need: bread, milk, sugar, eggs, butter and so on. These shops are worth visiting even if you don’t intend to make a purchase there as they offer a wide selection of books on music. But regular shopping is really boring and tiresome.

Weather The weather is a subject we can always talk about. It often changes and brings cold and heat, sunshine and rain, frost and snow. One day is often unlike the next. In summer the sun shines, often there is no wind and there are no clouds in the sky which is blue and beautiful. We can seestars and the moon at night and people like walks, outdoor games and sports in the fresh air. When autumn comes, the days become shorter and colder. It gets dark earlier and often heavyclouds cover the sky bringing rain with them. Sometimes there is heavy rain, so that an umbrella or a raincoat is necessary if we don't want to getwet through. Then you can hear people say, "What bad weather! When is this rain going to stop?"Many people then catch cold and must go to bed. Then a fire at home is so pleasant. At last frostand snow come. Fields, forests and houses are covered with snow and rivers and lakes with ice. But spring againbrings sunshine and warm winds. Sometimes it snows but snow will not remain long, it will melt inthe warm sun. Spring will bring bright sunshine, green grass and flowers. We usually say: "A nice day", "Not a bad day" or "It's nice weather for the time of the year" if theweather is fine. We can say: "It looks like rain", "It looks like snow" of "It's bad weather" when the weather is bad.
3 Away on holiday
All the people enjoy summer holidays very much. It is a great pleasure to have a rest after a whole year of hard work or study. People like to travel during their summer holidays. Some people go abroad to see new countries, some people prefer to go to the country-side to enjoy country-life far from noise and fuss of big cities. Some people like to spend their holidays in cities, visiting theatres, museums and going sightseeing. But a great number of people go to the seaside in summer.I like to have rest at the seaside best of all. I do not like crowds when I am on holiday. My family and I always have our holiday on the coast. Sea and sunshine, that is what we look forward to every summer. Hotels at the large seaside towns are rather expensive, so we usually go to a holiday camp.Last year we spent our holidays in such a camp. Each day was full of small joys. We swam in the sea, lay in the sun, played different games and had a wonderful time. We lived there for about a month and did not even notice when the time came for us to return home. The time flew very quickly. It was a wonderful rest.

Means of travelling
Almost all people are fond of travelling. It is very interesting to see new places, another towns and countries. People may travel either for pleasure or on business. There are various means oftravelling. For me there is nothing like travel by air; it is more comfortable, more convenient and, ofcourse, far quicker than any other means. There is none of the dust and dirt of a railway or carjourney, none of the trouble of changing from train to steamer and then to another train. With a train you have speed, comfort and pleasure combined. From the comfortable seat of arailway carriage you have a splendid view of the whole countryside. If you are hungry, you can havea meal in the diningcar; and if a journey is a long one you can have a wonderful bed in a sleeper.Travelling by ship is also very popular nowMany people like to travel by car. It is interesting too, because you can see many sights in a shorttime, you can stop when and where you like, you do not have to buy tickets or carry your suitcases.A very popular means of travelling is hiking. It is travelling on foot. Walking tours are veryinteresting.

At the English lesson
I must admit that English is my favourite school subject. Firstly, it is interesting to me, and secondly, it is useful to know English for the future of every person nowadays. So I try to do my best to have a good command of this language. As our school specializes in English its pupils begin to study this foreign language in the first form. This year we have English four times a week. At the English lessons we read texts, stories and tales and retell them, learn poems and dialogues, ask each other questions and answer them. Sometimes we sing English songs and play games. And, of course, we often write dictations or compositions. During our English classes we train our memory and thinking. There are 3 subgroups in my class. In my subgroup there are 10 pupils: 6 boys, and, unfortunately, only 4 girls. But I’m lucky that my teacher of English is Natalia Ivanovna. I like her very much as she is a strict and a kind teacher at the same time. Besides, Natalia Ivanovna is always full of energy to teach us and to give us all the possible knowledge. In our specialized English classroom there is a modern TV and a DVD player so we have the opportunity to watch cartoons and films in English. In conclusion I should say that the more I study English the more I like it.
