Internet as a Form of Mass Media and Communication

The Internet is used all over the world. Millions of us have two different lives: one is in real world and other is online. The Internet plays a very important role in our life. It gives us an ability to do and to have whatever we want.

In 2009 mankind celebrated forty years of Internet. Many modern teenagers don’t even know that the Internet is military invention. It was invented in 1969 during the Cold War. USA tried to make stable connections between life-centres that would survive if nuclear war happened. Thankfully it never happened and hopefully it would never happen in future. So this invention was brought to civil life.

Every day millions of users open their favourite websites, use e-mail, Skype and other means of connection. It is not necessary to use telephone to make international calls. Using Internet we can talk with our friends, relatives, co-workers from any country in the world.

Today millions of people around the world log into libraries, look through satellite weather photos, download computer programs and music, take part in discussion groups. Even the Presidents have their own Internet accounts.

Nowadays we can connect our mobile phone, photo camera, palm computers and even alarm clock with Internet. Now we can be connected with all the world everywhere – in the bus, underground and even on the north pole.

But there are some countries that limit usage of Internet. There are strong restrictions to visit international websites. These countries can be found in Arabic world.

The rest of us can freely use Internet. For example, you can buy things online or sell your personal goods online. You can find new friends or even love through Internet. It is a great world that makes our life much easier and more interesting.
