7.4. Project Task 2.

You’re going to take part in an international conference connected with your future profession. There’re some information about NATECLA (National Association for Teaching English and other Community Languages to Adults conferences). Write a letter to the organizers of a conference requesting all the necessary information.

7.4.1. Work in pairs and complete the table “Structure of your letter” to make a guide for your letter writing, use the table in task 7.3.2. If you`ve got some problems, use Your Writing Portfolio that is available on CD-ROM.

Family Learning and Functional Skills

Following an overwhelming response for NIACE's June Family Learning and Functional Skills event, bookings have opened for an additional date in July. This one day training examines the move towards Functional Skills qualifications, explore the particular challenges for family learning providers, and identify ways to embed Functional Skills within family learning programmes.

The training will be relevant to Family Learning providers, managers, coordinators and tutors. For more information please email events@niace.org.uk

7.4.3. Write a letter to the organizers of a conference requesting all the necessary information. Write a complete paragraph plan with notes for your letter, discuss it with your partner. Check yourself according Self-assessment checklist of the Writer’s 5 Ws, see Your Writing Portfolio.

Then write your letter individually in about 300 words.

7.4.4. Assess your own paper using Student Writing Assessment Checklist: Rating Scale see Your Writing Portfolio. Assess your partner’s paper using the Assessment Rubric for Letters: Analytical Scale, see Your Writing Portfolio.

7.4.5. Present the results of your project work to your teacher, groupmates. Let the teacher or experts assess your paper.
