It happened in March, when two children decided to miss their classes at school. Their names were Richard and James. Richard's parents were surgeons by profession and worked in the hospital all day long. Richard invited Jim to his cottage and they organized a party. They drank some punch and ate all sandwiches, millet porridge with fried chicken and spinach and a lot of jam. Then they drank orange juice and went for a walk to the river. At that time the river was ice-bound and the boys imagined themselves the champions in figure-skating. They began to slide and jump and do different tricks. But suddenly the ice cracked and Jim sank into the cold water. Finding himself in danger he began to call for help. Richard didn't lose his head and saved his friend from inevitable death. After that Jim caught a catching disease and stayed in bed with high temperature for two weeks.
