Сhapter 15 socioemotional development in early adulthood

This chapter depicts the importance of intimate relationships to individuals in early adulthood, men's and women's marital expectations and myths.

But before reading try to do the following:

a) answer and discuss the following questions:

1. Have you ever experienced loneliness? Define and distinguish among friendship and love.

2. What are the traits of a desirable marriage partner that vary widely from culture to culture? Do you remember any types of families?

3. How may marital expectations and myths influence the course of a marriage?

b) explain the termstereotype ideas” ['sterıətaıp aı'dıəz] (стереотипные представления) in English.

c) find synonyms and antonyms to:

typical, early, romantic.

d) guess the meaning of the following words and word combinations without using the dictionary:

e) do the following phonetic exercises:
