Verb to Be
Глагол to be – особый глагол в английском языке. Он может выступать, как и вспомогательный глагол (при образовании времен группы Continuous, форм пассивного залога), так и смысловой (быть). Этот глагол не требует вспомогательного глагола при образовании вопросительной и отрицательной форм. Ann is a student. Is Ann a student? Ann is not a teacher. Глагол to be неправильный, имеет особые временные формы, изменяется по числам и лицам. В настоящем времени глагол имеет следующие формы:
