Lesson 2

My University (Faculty) and Me

I. 1. Прочитайте и переведите текст:

I am a first-year student of the Russian State Agrarian University “Moscow Timiryazev Agricultural Academy”. There are a lot of both Russian and foreign students learning there.

We have a lot of old buildings, but there are some new and quite modern buildings here too.

There are many classrooms as well as lecture-halls in the old buildings. There are also different scientific laboratories there. We have classes in physics, mathematics, chemistry, biology and foreign languages in the classrooms. We sometimes have our English, German and French classes in the special laboratory. It is in building 12. There is a computer-centre in the same building too. One of the new buildings is not far from building 12. We have a big library, a small conference-hall and some reading-rooms here.

My hostel is not far from the University. It is a big building. The rooms of the hostel are not large, but they are comfortable. Our library is not far from the hostel. It is good. The reading-rooms of the hostel are large and light. There is a big collection of interesting and useful books in our library. There are a lot of textbooks, foreign books, Russian and foreign technical and biological journals among them. All newspapers are in the reading-rooms. Most of them are Russian. But there are few foreign ones in the library as well. English, German and French dictionaries are also in the reading-rooms.

The library is open from Monday to Saturday. There are usually not many students here from Monday to Friday mornings as well as daytime, when they have classes. However there are a lot of students there in the evenings. Our students don't have classes on Saturday. But as the reading room is open, there are a lot of students on this day too. There is often nobody in the reading-room only on Saturday evening.
