Surgery

In the operating room patients are operated on. A sore organ or a part of it is removed. During the operation anesthesia is applied. All the doctors and nurses wear special gowns while working in the operating room. The operating room must be very clean. It is washed before the operation and after it. During the operation the instruments which have been used are taken away.

The nurse must prepare herself for the operation beforehand. All the instruments must be sterilized. The nurse must be the first to be ready for the operation. She washes her hands in a special solution, puts on a sterilized gown and mask and prepares a table for the instruments. Then she helps the surgeon to get ready for the operation. During the operation she gives the doctor all the necessary instruments. The nurse must know very well how the operation will be carried out. After the operation the nurse bandages the patients. The nurse is responsible for the state of the operating room.

The surgery department

Great care must be taken of the patients who are treated in the surgery department. Often after the operation a patient cannot eat himself, wash and he feels a sharp pain. The nurse must be very attentive to the patients complains, as she is the first, who notices complications after the operation. The nurse feeds the patients, washes him and helps him to get up. After the operation the patient’s wound can bleed. The nurse must be able to help the sick man in this case. After the operation the patient must try to sit in the bed as early as possible and his chest must be massaged. All this is done by the nurse.
