The patient need your help

The whole life of a medical assistant is devoted to people. She is responsible for her patient. Every medical assistant must have enough knowledge of her work. She must help her patients at any hour of the day or night. She must know how to help patient Orlov and to make the diagnosis.

Patient Orlov called in a doctor from the polyclinic. He could not go to the policlinic himself because his temperature was about 38 ºC. Soon doctor Smirnova, an experienced therapeutics, came to the call. She wanted to know the patient’s complains. The patient said that a short, painful, dry cough associated with raped respiration had developed two days before. The patient complained of the pain in the throat and behind the breastbone.

Doctor Smirnova listened to the heart and lungs and then measured the patient’s blood pressure. The blood pressure and the heart sounds were normal. But dry and moist rales were heard in the lungs. The respiratory rate was considerably increased. The amount of the discharge from the bronchial mucous membrane was large.

On the basis of all the findings the doctor made the diagnosis of (acute bronchitis, a cold).

The process of training a nurse

In our country nurses have been doctor’s assistants for a long time. They could not interfere in the treatment of a patient. Now a new approach to the nurse’s job is being developed in Russia. As a result the status of a nurse must be changed.

The nurse will examine a patient, diagnose him, plan the treatment of the patient, carry it out and analyze the final result of the treatment. A nurse helps those who cannot move, tells a blind man what is happening around, looks after the child, instructs young mothers and builds up their confidence. She communicates with those, who are too weak to talk. She helps people to walk and takes them in a wheel-chair. Sometimes she works in the operating room, helping the doctor who does surgery on a patient.
