Учитель. Good morning, students. It is so nice to see you again.

Ученики. Good morning, teacher. It’s nice to see you too.

Учитель. Who is on duty today?

Ученик. I am on duty today. Today is the 1st of October, Thursday.

Учитель. The new month has begun today. Do you like autumn? What are you doing after lessons today? Do you often go for a walk in autumn? Are you going for a walk today? Do you often go for a walk in a good company?

Ученики. I don’t like autumn, I like summer, because girls taking their warm clothes off… I go for a walk in the park with my friends… I’m going to the swimming pool today with my father… I’m going to the cinema today.

Учитель.Me too. Is going to the cinema an adventure for you? Is it a strange question? I think, no. What is an adventure?

Ученики. Some kind of event… when people have fun… it is having fun… (аудирование, говорение).

Учитель.Of course it is. You are right. I’ve got a definition from Macmillan English dictionary. Read it:” adventure (n) – an exciting, unusual, and sometimes dangerous experience; a. the feeling that you want to have new and exciting experiences ( a sense of adventure)”.

Our today’s theme is - What do you know about Holiday Adventure?

By the way, do you know the meaning of the word group Holiday Adventure?

No ideas? OK. Let’s look up this word combination in Macmillan English dictionary: adventure holiday (n) - a type of organized holiday in which people do new and exciting things (чтение).

Have you ever taken part in any organized holiday?

Ученики. If I am not mistaken, it is sabantuy … a family picnic …

II. Основная часть урока. Ознакомление с новым материалом. Работа со словарями. Чтение писем на странице 23, определение лучшего (субъективная оценка). Работа с таблицей. Характеристика авторов писем.

Учитель. Right you are. People may go on a long and difficult journey on foot or travel to Africa in order to watch, take pictures of, or hunt wild animals. (аудирование, говорение) Look. I’ve got something interesting for you. Open your books at Page 23. Read the advertisement of the Holiday Adventure and two letters below. You’ve got 5 min. to do it (чтение).

Done? Which one is better in your opinion?

Ученики. The letter A is better I think. It’s more polite…As for me.... (говорение).

Учитель. I agree with that. But we should try to be more objective. Look through the table on Page 23. (чтение) Our task is to fill it in. Does the letter A contain irrelevant information? <…> (письмо) Write the information down. You’ve got 10 min. (Внимательно прочитать тексты писем снова и заполнить таблицу). Time is over. Have you got any questions?

Учитель. No, everything is clear. Good. Now pay attention to the questions asked by the authors. What do the letters have in common and what is the difference between them? Write the information down. You’ve got 10 min. (письмо) Then we’ll discuss it with you (all together). (Определить, что общего в письмах и чем они отличаются, перечислить поднимаемые вопросы, записать).

Учитель. Are you ready? What is your opinion, Marat?.... And you, Nick….

Ученики. The authors speak about the advertisement. They mention English… their names and age… They ask what countries other students will be coming from… they ask about the prices <…>… (говорение, аудирование).

Учитель. Did you write down all the questions asked and information given?

Ученики. Yes. It’s name, age, purpose of the trip, questions about…<…> (говорение).

Учитель. During a job interview they always ask questions about your personality. And it is up to you to present yourself in a good light. Everybody has good and bad traits of character and it is better to know yourself. Do you agree? To begin with, let’s revise some adjectives that will help us to introduce ourselves correctly. Listen to the tape, repeat and spell the words (аудирование).

And now, do you want to play a game? (Игра «5 слов» (6 мин)). Do you remember how you described yourselves and each other last time? Then I need a volunteer. I will count from one to ten and you are to tell 5 adjectives during this time.

Ученик. Tactless, lazy, generous, clever, brilliant.

Учитель. Very good! Who else wants to have a try? <…> Well done. Thank you.
