Text 3 University of Wales: Degree Courses
Why study business? The main attraction for studying business is that it doesn’t only provide you with an understanding of the fundamental principles of business and management but also opens up a wide variety of career opportunities. The study of business improves powers of analysis, communication skills and clarity of thought. These skills are demanded in many areas: the public sector, social services, commerce and industry, accountancy and financial services.
The University of Wales degree courses are designed to provide students with the knowledge, skills and techniques to evaluate business situations and opportunities and move quickly into areas of responsibility.
Undergraduate courses enable students to specialise in a range of areas encompassing Accounting, Human Resource Management, Marketing, Tourism, Information Technology and general business management.
Each course requires to complete 6 semesters of study. 4 subjects to be studied within each semester are called modules. They allow students maximum flexibility of choice of degree courses.
The university offers MBA (Master of Business Administration) programme for those who have a degree, or equivalent qualification. The MBA is recognized as the premier management qualification. The course introduces the main business disciplines and applies them to management, exploring business of all sizes with a particular focus on small and medium sized enterprises.
Students are taught in a personal and supportive academic environment by a team of well qualified and experienced management lecturers.
The MBA is awarded on successful completion of twelve taught modules plus the Dissertation. It is a full-time programme, built around two taught semesters. The dissertation normally takes between 4-6 months to complete.
