Text 2 General Motors Worldwide
General Motors (GM) has operations in 50 countries and worldwide employment of 608, 000 people. Best known as a full-line vehicle manufacturer, GM has worldwide factory sales of more than 8.5 million motor vehicles a year. It manufactures and sells cars and trucks through a variety of brands, including Chevrolet, Pontiac, GMC, Oldsmobile, Buick, Cadillac, Saturn, Opel, Vauxhall, Holden, Isuzu, and Saab.
GM also has other substantial business interests. Its Delphi Automotive Systems supplies components and systems to every major automotive manufacturer. General Motors Acceptance Corporation (GMAC) and its subsidiaries provide a broad range of financial services and insurance products to GM customers, dealers and employees. Hughes Space and Communications Company is a specialist in telecommunications, including satellite manufacturing and services, network systems, and direct-to-home TV broadcast. GM Locomotive Group produces diesel-electric locomotives and related products. Allison Transmission is the largest U.S. producer of medium- and heavy-duty vehicle transmissions. In total, GM’s worldwide annual net sales and revenues are over $ 178 billion.
