Дик попросил дать ему варенья попробовать, но бабушка дала ему одну чайную ложечку и сказала, что варенье перед обедом не едят, а едят его только после обеда на десерт. И вот уже пять банок были наполнены отличным вареньем, и бабушка пошла отдохнуть. Вскоре Дик заметил, что она спит. Он побежал на кухню и стал есть варенье столовой ложкой. Когда одна банка была опустошена, Дик вымыл ее и поставил на полку. Позже он потратил много усилий на то, чтобы уверить бабушку, что она сварила только 4 банки варенья, а не пять. related (p.p) – 1) родственный: We are distantly related. 2) связанный: He must be related to the gang we arrested yesterday.
relation (n) – 1) отношение, связь: It bears no relation to your activity. 2) повествование: Your relation was really funny that we couldn’t stop laughing. 3) родственник: I couldn’t even imagine that my wife had so many relations.
relationship (n) - 1) родство: You should remember your relationship every time you want to force him out. 2) связь: I see no relationship between these guys.
relative (n) – 1) родственник: She didn’t have close relatives so she had to stay with remote ones.
4. limp (v) – хромать: The wounded soldier limped off the battle field.
limp (n) - хромота: She can’t dance because she has a bad limp.
lame (adj) - 1) хромой: She is lame in the fight foot. 2) неубедительный, неудовлетворительный: The explanation sounded lame. lame duck – неудачник, инвалид.
5. sigh (n) – вздох: “He cheated me again,” – Mary said with sigh.
sigh (v) – 1) вздыхать: Stop sighing, I know that you don’t like the story. 2) тосковать: They broke up 10 years ago but she is still sighing for him.

talk (v) - 1) говорить (of smth., with smb.): She promised to talk with my boss about you. 2) сплетничать: If you have nothing to do you begin talking. 3) совещаться: We must talk immediately to prevent a disaster. to talk into – уговорить: She can talk me into any thing. to talk out of – разубедить: Your obligation is to talk her out of this action. to talk round – говорить пространно: She doesn’t have the least notion about it, that’s why she talks round. to talk over – обсуждай: Before going there we should talk everything over.
