В провинциальном театре играли "Короля Лира". Вдруг исполнитель роли Глочестера заболел. Он уже несколько дней чувствовал себя плохо, а на последнем представлении у него уже не стало сил исполнять роль.
Был срочно приглашен другой актер, но у него даже не было времени, чтобы выучить роль до конца. Сначала актер играл довольно свободно, но когда дело дошло до того акта, где Глочестера ослепляют, он уже не помнил слов и поэтому попросил разрешения читать свою роль.
