Past Simple

We use the Past Simple:

  • for an action which happened at a definite time in the past;

  • for actions which happened one after another in the past.

They graduated from the University two years ago.

He sang welt when he was a teenager.

He read the message and phoned to the agency.

The Past Simple is used with the following time expression: yester­day, last night/week/month/year, ago, then, when, How long ago... ?
