Введение
Настоящее пособие предназначено для студентов 1-го курса факультета менеджмента и составлено в соответствии с требованиями Государственного образовательного стандарта высшего профессионального образования и примерной программой по дисциплине "Английский язык".
Цель пособия – формирование у студентов основных навыков чтения, понимания, обработки и воспроизведения информации, а также навыков самостоятельной работы с общепрофессиональной литературой на английском языке с целью получения необходимой информации по специальности.
Пособие состоит из четырех разделов и материалов для письменного перевода, дополнительного чтения и обсуждения. Каждый раздел имеет следующую структуру: текст для аналитического чтения с предтекстовыми и послетекстовыми заданиями, включая задания на развитие навыков говорения, а также тексты для обучения другим видам чтения.
Основной текст предназначен для изучения выделенного лексического материала, который имеет важное значение при рассмотрении проблем менеджмента. Базовые лексические единицы многократно повторяются в текстах и упражнениях.
Сопуствующей задачей является активизация наиболее частотных словообразовательных моделей. Для этого предлагается комплекс упражнений: соотнесение словосочетаний с объяснениями их значений, выбор одного из нескольких перечисленных слов для заполнения пробелов и т.д. Предлагаемые упражнения направлены на закрепление как навыков понимания реалий сферы менеджмента, так и навыков нормативного речеупотребления, принятого в деловом общении на английском языке.
Тексты для дополнительного чтения и обсуждения, работа с которыми поможет расширить и закрепить словарный запас английского языка по специальности, могут использоваться как на занятиях, так и при самостоятельном изучении.

The definition of manager can vary according to the field, type of management, etc.
Meriam Webster’s Dictionary defines manager as a person who “handles or directs with a degree of skill.”
