The importance of reading.
I am sure that reading is an essential part of our lives.
Firstly, in books you can find the answers to all your questions. Books can tell us about the modern world and ancient times. Secondly, books are the main source of education: they can help us to explore new ideas and expand our outlook. In addition, reading is to the mind what exercise is to the body. Books give us food for the mind. Reading stimulates mental abilities. It develops our way of thinking, logic, imagination and memory. Books expand our vocabulary. What is more, books play an important social role. In fact, books teach us to be kind and honest, to solve our problems and to make people happy. They give us models of positive behavior. Finally, reading is a perfect way to spend free time and not to feel bored as books carry us a way into the imaginary world and make us forget our everyday problems.
There are a lot of different kinds of books in the world, for example, thrillers, historical novels, science fiction, adventure books and others. Most of them are with us during all our life. Teens like reading about adventures because they enjoy characters that go through dangers to complete their mission. Boys are fond of thrillers and detective stories because they have interesting story lines and unusual endings. They are particularly captivated by characters who conduct investigations. As for girls, they prefer romances, historical novels and poetry because they like reading about love. Encyclopedias, reference books and dictionaries help pupils to do well at school.
