Ex. 5. Paraphrase the sentences in order to make Type 2 conditional sentences:

  1. I don't have a car, so I have to wait for the bus every day.

Ex. 6. Comment on this situations. Use a Type 2 conditional with would or could:

E.g. Andrew is such a boring person because he works all the time.

Ex. 7. Complete the conversation. Put in the correct form of the verb. You may need to use will or would:

Matthew:

Ex. 8. What does the if – clause mean? Write a sentence with isn't or might:

Ex. 9. Complete the sentences to make Type 3 conditional sentences:

Ex. 10. Read the stories below and make Type 3 conditional sentences, as in the example:

E.g. 1) …If Sally hadn't been in a hurry, she wouldn't have left some important notes at home.

    1. Sally had a terrible day yesterday. She was in a hurry, so she left some important notes at home. She wasn't prepared for her meeting with a new client, so the meeting was a disaster. The client was disappointed, and as a result he refused to do business with the company. The boss shouted at Sally, so she got upset.

    2. Robin argued with his boss, so he lost his job. He needed money, so he robbed a bank. The police arrested him, so he went to court. There, the judge sentenced him to ten years to prison. That's where he is now.

E.g. If you see Mark, will you give him the message?

Ex. 11. Fill in the gaps using when or if:

  1. A: Have you phoned Paul yet?

B: No, I'll phone him … I get home.

B: That's a good idea.

  1. A: I really liked that dress we saw.

B: Well, you can buy it … you get paid.

  1. A: Shall we go somewhere this weekend?

B: Yes. … it's sunny, we could go to the beach.

  1. A: Did you make this cake yourself?

B: Yes. … you like it, I'll give you the recipe.

  1. A: Is Jane still asleep?
