Electromagnetic fields (EMF)

This Philips appliance complies with all standards regarding electromagnetic fields (EMF). If handled properly and according to the instructions in this user manual, the appliance is safe to use based on scientific evidence available today.

Shaving

1. Put the appliance plug in the shaver. 2.Put the powerplug in the wall socket.

3.Press the on/off button once to switch on the shaver. The light ring goes on.

4.Move the shaving heads quickly over your skin, makig both straight and circular movements.

Shaving on a dry face gives the best results.

Your skin may need 2 or 3 weeks to get accustomed to the Philips shaving system.

5.Press the on/off button once to switch off the shaver.

6. Put the protection cap on the shaver every time you have used it, to prevent damage.

Trimming

For grooming sideburns and moustache.

1. Open the trimmer by pushing the slide upwards.

The trimmer can be activated while the motor is running.

Cleaning and maintenance

Regular cleaning guarantees better shaving performance.

The easiest and most hygienic way to clean the appliance is to rinse the shaving unit and the hair chamber with hot water every time you have used the appliance.

Be careful with hot water.Always check if the water is not too hot, to prevent your hands from getting burnt.

Every day: shaving unit and hair chamber

1.Switch off the shaver, remove the powerplug from the wall socket and pull the appliance plug out of the shaver.

2.Press the release button (1) and open the shaving unit (2).

3.Clean the shaving unit and the hair chamber by rinsing them under a hot tap for some time.

Make sure the inside of the shaving unit and the hair chamber have been cleaned properly.

4.Rinse the outside of the appliance.

5.Close the shaving unit and shake off excess water.

Never dry the shaving unit with a towel or tissue as this may damage the shaving heads.

6. Open the shaving unit again and leave it open to let the appliance dry completely.

You can also clean the hair chamber without water by using the brush supplied.

Every six months: shaving heads

1. Open the shaving unit, put it of the shaver and remove the retaining frame. 2.Clean the cutters and guards with the brush supplied.

Do not clean more than one cutter and guard at a time, since they are all matching sets. If you accidentally mix up the cutters and guards, it may take several weeks before optimal shaving performance is restored.

3. Put the shaving heads back into the shaving unit. Put the retaining frame back into the shaving unit.

Make sure that the projections of the shaving heads fit into the recesses.

Trimmer

Clean the trimmer every time you have used it.

1. Switch the shaver off, remove the powerplug from the wall socket and pull the appliance plug out of the shaver.

2.Clean the trimmer with the brush supplied.

3.Lubricate the trimmer teeth with a drop of sewing machine oil every six months.

Storage

Put the protection cap on the shaver to prevent damage.

Store the appliance in the luxury pouch or place the appliance in the stand.

Replacement

Replace the shaving heads every two years for optimal shaving results. Replace damaged or worn shaving heads with HQ9 Philips shaving heads only.

1.Switch the shaver off, remove the powerplug from the wall socket and pull the appliance plug out of the shaver.

2.Open the shaving unit and remove the retaining frame.

You can also remove the shaving unit by pulling it of the shaver.

3. Remove the shaving heads and place new ones in the shaving unit.

Make sure that the projections of the shaving heads fit exactly into the recesses. 4. Close the shaving unit.

Environment

Guarantee restrictions

The shaving heads (cutters and guards) are not coveed by the terms of the international guarantee because they are subject to wear.

Troubleshhoting

Reduced shaving performance

Cause 1: the shaving heads are dirty.

The shaver has not been rinsed long enough or the water used was not hot enough.

Clean the shaver thoroughly before you continue shaving. See chapter ‘Cleaning and maintenance’.

Cause 2: long hairs are obstructing the shaving heads.

Clean the cutters and guards with the brush supplied. See chapter ‘Cleaning and maintenance’, section ‘Every six months: shaving heads’.

Cause 3: the shaving heads are damaged or worn. Replace the shaving heads. See chapter ‘Replacement’.

2 The shaver does not work when the on/off button is pressed. Cause : the appliance is not connected to the mains.

Put the powerplug in the wall socket. The shaving unit has come off the shaver.

Cause: the shaving unit has not been placed correctly.

If the shaving unit becomes detached from the shaver, the unit can be easily put back on the shaver again.

23. PHILIPS DAP WORLD WIDE GUARANTEE

Philips DAP guarantees its products for a period of two years after the day of purchase. If any defect due to faulty materials and workmanship occurs within this two-year guarantee period, Philips DAP will repair or replace the product at its expense.

Philips DAP will only pay for repair or replacement if convincing proof is provided, for instance by mean of a receipt, that the day on which service is claimed is within the guarantee period.

The guarantee does not cover products and/or product parts that are subject to wear, that can be considered as consumable parts by their nature or that are made of glass.

The guarantee is not valid if a defect is to damage caused by incorrect use, poor maintenance (e.g. parts blocked by scale) or if alterations or repairs have been carried out by persons not authorized by Philips DAP.

For the appliance to be used correctly, the user should strictly adhere to all instructions included in the instructions for use and should abstain from any actions or uses that are described as undesired or which are warned against in the instructions for use.

Important: guarantee restrictions for certain products and materials.

For some products the guarantee may be subject to certain restrictions, for instance as a result of the type of material used. Guarantee restrictions, if any, can be found under the heading ‘Guarantee restrictions’ in the charter ‘Guarantee & service’ of the directions for use.

These guarantee restrictions do not affect your statutory rights.

Service

Service during and after the guarantee period can be obtained in all countries where the product is officially distributed by Philips. In countries where product is not distributed by Philips, service is provided by the national Philips organization. In this case there may be some delay if the required spare parts are not readily available. Turn to your dealer or an authorised Philips service centre for service. Contact the Consumer Care Centre in your country if you need more information or if you have problems obtaining service. Please read all instructions before using this instrument to take blood pressure. Follow all CAUTIONS to avoid damaging the instrument or hurting the patient.

Unit Assembly

Lay out the parts as pictured.

Look at the drawing to help you put the unit together.

1.Attach the gauge to the tubing on the left.

2.Attach the inflation bulb to the tubing on the right. Model 700 cuff fits arm circumference 25.4-40.6 cm. For easy assembly follow the diagram.

Connect each component securely to avoid injury and instrument damage.

How to take a reading

1.Make sure the person is seated with their feet flat and back and arm supported. Resting the arm at heart level. CAUTION:

MAKE SURE ALL COMPONENTS ARE ASSEMBLED CORRECTLY AND SECURELY. FAILURE TO DO SO MAY RESULT IN INJURY OR AN INCORRECT READING.

2.Locate brachial artery by placing two fingers 2 cm above the bend of the elbow on the inside of the arm.

3.Place the bottom edge of the cuff approximately 1-2 cm above the

elbow.

4.The cuff should be wrapped so that it fits snugly and stays in place. Fasten the cuff by pressing the hook material firmly against the fuzzy pile material. If necessary, readjust the cuff.

5.Rest their arm on a table. The arm should be relaxed with the palm turned upward. Ensure the cuff is same level as heart.

6.Hold the gauge in one hand with the numbers directly in front of you. Hold the inflation bulb in your other hand. Close the air release valve attached to the inflation bulb by turning it clockwise.

7.To inflate the cuff, rapidly squeeze the inflation bulb. Inflate the cuff until the gauge reaches approximately 20-30 mmHg ABOVE normal SYSTOLIC reading.

Caution

DO NOT INFLATE THE CUFF ABOVE 280 mmHg. YOU MAY INJURE

THE PATIENT OR DAMAGE THE INSTRUMENT.

1.Slowly open the air release valve by turning it counterclockwise. Release the air at a rate of 2-4 mmHg per second.

2.Listen carefully for the appearance of sounds, watching the gauge needle. When you hear the first appearance of sound, it is the SYSTOLIC blood pressure reading.

3.Continue to release the air at a rate of 2-4 mmHg per second. When you no longer hear any sounds, that is the DIASTOLIC blood pressure reading.

4.Turn the air release valve counter-clockwise to release the remaining air. Record the reading.

NOTE: If you want to take another reading, you can reinflate up to twice. Wait at least 2-3 minutes before measuring again, to avoid inaccurate readings due to the engorged blood vessels.

Quick reference guide

Before

1.Have the patient to RELAX for at least 5 minutes before taking a measurement.

2.Remove tight fitting clothing from the upper arm.

3.The patient should NOT eat, smoke or exercise for at least 30 minutes before taking a measurement.

During

1.PLACE CUFF at the heart level.

2.INFLATE unit to proper level. (20-30 mmHg above estimated systolic pressure).

3.The patient should not talk or move during a measurement .

4.DEFLATE unit at 2-4 mmHg per second.

After

1. WAIT 2-3 minutes before taking another measurement.

Care and maintenance

To protect your unit from damage, please AVOID washing or moistening the cuff or dropping the gauge.

Your new blood pressure unit has been carefully checked to assure reliability and accuracy prior to shipment and use. However, as with any sensitive instrument subjected to repeated use, we recommend that your blood pressure gauge, be checked periodically. When the cuff is fully deflated, the gauge needle must stay

within the accuracy indicator zone. If the needle points outside of the accuracy indicator zone, the gauge will give inaccurate readings. In this case you have to bring the device to the nearest service centre for calibration (address mentioned in warranty card).

IMPORTANT: CONSULT A DOCTOR TO DETERMINE THE PATIENTS NORMAL BLOOD PRESSURE. ONLY A CERTIFIED HEALTHCARE PRACTITIONER IS QUALIFIED TO DIAGNOSE AND TREAT HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE. PRACTICE THE MEASUREMENT PROCEDURES FOR THIS INSTRUMENT CAREFULLY.

Warranty

The blood-pressure monitor is guaranteed for 18 months from date of purchase. This guarantee includes the instrument and the cuff. The guarantee does not apply to damage caused by improper handling, accidents, not following the operating instructions or alterations made to the instrument by third parties. The guarantee is only valid upon presentation of the guarantee card filled out by the representative of the sales organization and its stamp and safety of the packaging.
