Read the text and answer the questions

The Post Oak Galleria has 5 acres of lush green in the area of Houston, 15-minutes from downtown Houston and Astroworld Amusement Park. The 378-room Omni is a AAA Five-Diamond Mobil Four-Star hotel that succeeds in pampering and entertaining its guests. From its two resident black swans that are fed at various times during the day to its pool playing underwater music, the Omni brings amusement and comfort together under one roof. The Black Swan is an English-style pub that features dancing to DJ-hosted music at night, or Cafe on the Green, an American bistro with a view of the meadow. Hotel facilities include a full-service fitness center, two outdoor swimming pools, jogging and biking trails, lighted tennis and basketball courts, and an 18-hole golf course at the adjacent Memorial Park.

You are a representative of the Houston Tourist Information Office. The above given passage contains information about attractions and tours in Houston. Answer the visitor’s questions and give advice on what to do. If the passage doesn’t contain some of the information that the visitor requests, be prepared to invent it.

3 Activity

You are going to read about the Evan Evans full-day coach tour to Leeds Castle, Canterbury, and Dover. Divide into pairs, A, and B. When you have read your text, write the questions you must ask to find out the missing information from your partner. Then fill in the gaps in your leaflet act out dialogues.

1. Chose an area you know well - e.g., your home town. Make a list of attractions and local facilities which might interest a visitor. Make notes about each of the places you have listed.

2. Draw a rough map of the area and decide on the best route for a tour ( either walking by coach).

3. Divide into groups of three or four ( if possible, each member of the group should have chosen a different place).

4. Imagine you are a guide leading a group of visitors ( the others in your group). Take them on a ‘guided tour’ of your map telling them about the places they are seeing. ‘Visitors’ can ask questions if they want.
