Our college is one of the oldest educational establishments in Khakasia.
It was founded in 1929. The college is situated in Shchetinkin Street in the center of the town. It is a three-storeyed building. Near the college there are many trees & we can see a lot of flowers in summer.
The college belongs to the Khakas state university. It has several departments: the Pedagogical Department, the Law Department, the Department of Office work & Computer science. The college has two divisions: Part-time division & Day – time division. All applicants take competitive entrance exams. Some students pay for their education at the college.
Our college has a lot of classrooms for lectures, seminars & practical classes. The college has a library & a reading-room. The librarians help students to choose necessary books. At the library the students can find reference books, numerous bibliographies, encyclopedias, magazines, newspapers, and original scientific works.
The gymnasium hall is situated (= located) on the first floor. The students have there Physical training lessons & organize sport competitions.
Our students take an active part in out of class activity. They organize various meetings, parties, concerts, quizzes, scientific conferences, which take place in the assembly hall.
We have a medical-room & refreshment – room. In the refreshment-room the students have lunch during a long break. The students can buy there a cup of tea, coffee, juice, lemonade, buns cookies, cakes, pies, sandwiches & others.
Near the college in the yard there is a students’ canteen & two hostels. Some students live in the hostels; others rent a room in the town.
The students of all departments take exams & oral credit tests at the end of each term.
Those who pass all exams successfully get a grant. All our students are engaged in practice& scientific research work. The students have practice at the third & the fourth courses & write course works & diploma projects.
The course of education lasts 3 or 4 years, it depends on a curriculum & speciality. All students take final exams. On graduating college leavers receive diplomas which give them the right to work at schools, kindergartens, militia, archives, state & private companies. The best college leavers have the right to continue their education at the university without entrance exams.
