Exercise 3. Read and translate into Russian without using the vocabulary list.
Planning involves devising a systematic process for attaining the goals of the organization.
The time length for strategies is arbitrary, but is probably two, three, or perhaps as many as five years.
The mission statement may be accompanied by an overarching statement of strategic purpose.
Organizations must examine their situation in order to seek opportunities and monitor threats.
The process of finding and adapting best practices to improve organizational performance is benchmarking.
Planning bridges the gap from where we are now to where we want to be in desired future.
Planning strongly implies not only the introduction of new things but also sensible and workable implementation.
Employees should know their purposes and objectives, the tasks to be performed, and the guidelines to be followed in performing them.
Adjustments may need to be made to accommodate changes in the external and/or internal environment of the organization.
A policy establishes broad limits, provides direction, but permits some initiative and discretion on the part of the supervisor.
A procedure is more specific than a policy and establishes a customary way of handling a recurring activity.
If group effort is to be effective, people must know the guidelines to be followed in performing the tasks assigned to them and what they are expected to accomplish.
Exercise 4. Read and translate text A.
