3.1 Symbol like the cultural code in Valeriy Shevchuk's novel
Valeriy Shevchuk's prose shows a special type of literature in Ukrainian literature, that shows a well-planned depiction, deep hidden meanings connected with different structural elements that unite polyfinism and the opening of texts. These components according to Y. Lottman are the functions of memory, to which the text isn't only the generator of new ideas, but the condenser of cultural memory, that has the ability to preserve its previous texts.
Category “cultural memory” - the dominating element of literary structures and scientific texts of Valeriy Shevchuk on what he himself often turns his attention to the auto-commentaries. - “У загальному задумі я писав епос один, який можна було б назвати “Дорогою до тисячу років”, ж тобто я прагну розглянути якусь частину української ментальності на її тисячолітньому шляху...” Valeriy Shevchuk.

One of the inner-textual elements is modification and functional-structural symbols.
The symbols of Shevchuk's prose is quite rich and diverse, to it belongs natural appearance, hand-written works, abstractions, geometric figures, colors and so on. Together they form in certain lines, in fact, with some of these elements it helps create Shevchuk's own world according to critics (O. Onyshka, M. Ryabchuk, M. Pavlyshyn) it creates “unseen transactions from certain realia's to closed”. The solemn style, frequency and the abundance of symbols assists because except the borrowing of certain mythologies, folk types, bible illusions, the author creates an original mythology. That's why in interpretation not only the decoding takes part, also the narration that makes it universal.
The display in this plan is the spacious symbols of mythological pictures in Valeriy Shevchuk's novels, that consists of three layers: celestial, global and underworld, but are two-planned – horizontal and vertical. The mythological model of the writer is characterized with a binary opposition that gives the ability of talking about such a called cosmic space, where such events take place that are inhuman, and the exact images from the level of peripherals.
