1.2 V. Shevchuk's outlook

According to Shevchuk's outlook on Ukraine, his aim is to investigate achievements on the history of the soul, how a Ukrainian person developes his own personality, trying to make oneself in the end on the historical growth of spirituality on the level of the entire nation. The writer decided to investigate the development of spirituality of his nation historically, to understand its evolution. Besides it's not even a task – recreate that or that epoch, but an undertask – stylize human thinking in the context of that epoch, which he is investigating. And as a consequence – in Shevchuk's prose we see the condition of the whole esthetic systems of value, spiritual evolution of the Ukrainian in a historic perspective.

Always showing his philosophic and moral principals H. Skovoroda like in literature, just as іn life, Valeriy Shevchuk writes his literary works on the philosophic-еsthetic basis: his characters in sections of a certain historical episode are always in the search of the truth, in the achievement of harmony with themselves and the world – through good and beauty.

The fight between good and evil – complicated line of literary discoveries of Valeriy Shevchuk: he defines this topic in different pecularities and timezones. From a literary work into a literary work the writer makes it clear that good and evil is concentrated in the actual person, that they are built in the actual human body, the never ending fight between them in the soul can ruin a human being, destroying in it all good, and only the person himself, the scale of its morality, on behalf of the first or second the choice will be made. The freedom of choice, freedom – another complicated topic in the works of Valeriy Shevchuk.

A person in Valeriy Shevchuk's novel – is always on the road (A road is like a symbol, a metaphor), always trying to find himself and the purpose of life. The path to it is not an easy one and twisted – through self-awareness, seeing good and evil, disappointment, that is through a big never-ending work of the soul . And as a result – we have the chance not only to feel the aroma of a very long epoch, but аlso how Shevchuk's characters «survive» in their times. The writer doesn't only mechanically «manufactures» them in the realia and their attributes of this or other epoch like the bearers of ideology and morality of those times, but «adds it» into «separate actions», where there's a «thinking atmosphere», stereoscopics, polyhedrals are created by mythological ways, legends, symbols, allegories, fantastic transformations and grotesque deformations of reality.

Two wide-ranged outlooks of the literary world – reality and fantasy – helps to recreate microcosm of the human soul, which always remains the main object of literary research as to the writer.

1.3 Valeriy Shevchuk's prose

Valeriy Shevchuk's prose, according to its definition, is a very small meaning or in other words, an antithesis to wide-ranged Ukrainization, objection to ethnography. It penetrates through the essence and specifics through the Ukrainian historically developed attitude, national thinking. Quite often the writer refuses to write in traditional manners, turning to mythology like a literary-recognized way of infiltrating the psychology of the Ukrainian ethnics, its historical prose as an universal model of the world that appeared even during the times of Borokko .

Created by the writers imagination, literary model of exclusive and inclusive actions has its own parameters of historical, and present subject matters and is defined not only geographically, in specifically-timed measures, and irrational ways.

So, Valeriy Shevchuk creatively uses and developes traditional and national creations, adding to it stylistic findings of foreign writers – French existentiallists, V. Golding (a letter in the style of english legends), V. Folkner (creation of the actual literary micro-galaxy according to Yoknapatophy), latin-american novelists («magical reality», an eccentric prose). After this we receive all in all our own synthesis, wide national phenomena of Ukrainian literature.

An interesting research is an article in the journal “Vitchyzna” by Yuriy Badz'o [ 1, 139-148 ]. In the article he shows the weakness of the epic mentality of the prosaic. Badz'o emphasizes, that compared to different writers, Shevchuk concentrates his attention on the inside world of his character, and not on some main parts or global problems. A literary figure L. Tarnashynska also is very fond of V. Shevchuk's literary inside world [12, 117-128 ]. She states that Valeriy Shevchuk's prose is definite existentialism. Obviously that, V. Shevchuk's works need to be further investigated.  Aim of the task lies in the research of problematics and specific literary proses of Valeriy Shevchuk. From here on the main tasks appear: - definitions of the main motives of Valeriy Shevchuk's works; - opening up literary specific works; - researching the conception of person and the world; - appearance of existential principals in Shevchuk's prose. The materials for the task at hand are the novels and narration of Valeriy Shevchuk. Novels: “На полі смиренному”, “Три листки зі вікном” та “Дім на горі”. Повісті: “Камінна луна”, “Чудо”, “Двоє на березі”, “Середохрестя”, “Дерево пам’яті”, “Тепла осінь”. The structure and plan of this course paper. The research consists of introduction, three chapters, conclusion and list of references.
