Introduction

The story starts off in Zhytomyr, Ukraine in the 16th century in a monastery located outside town near the river Teteriv. There are 3 main characters – Myhailo Vasylevych who is a monk, illuminator, and a calligrapher, as well as the creator of Peresopnytskogo yevangelia, who meets up with a deacon from Kyiv and the friar Pavlo from the Carpathian mountains, they are also both monks. Together they embark on a journey to the Carpathian mountains in the search of the “Eye Of The Abyss”. They also want to gain lots of creative energy while on the path, their main reason is that they think that the “Eye Of The Abyss” is the key of making the world they live in a safe place for people to live, they want people to become good and and not be evil, they want to cure everybody, prevent all the violence and prove to everybody that good always prevails over evil and tell of their adventure afterwards. They will encounter many dangerous surprises on the road to “The Eye Of The Abyss”, lots of evil that they will have to surpass in order to reach their destination. But Unfortunately, only Myhailo Vasylevych will the one to come across the path to the “Eye Of The Abyss'.

“Eye Of The Abyss” is an amazing novel like a detective story that will definitely get the readers attention, lots of crime, religious matters, love to God, dialogues and monologues between the characters that the reader may find quite amusing.
