6.1.3. Working up of the results

6.1.3.1. In order to determine the index of psycho-emotional steadiness calculate the difference between the indexes of stress and background PSt in % using the Following formula:

PSt backgr. — PSt stress

PS = ----------------------------- x 100% (20),

PSt backgr. + PSt stress

where: PS – psycho-emotional steadiness,

PSt backgr. – psycho-emotional background state,

PSt stress – psycho-emotional state in stress situation.

Put down the result in column 6, table 18.

6.1.4. The interpretation of the results

6.1.4.1. Psycho-emotional steadiness index is a quantity inversely proportional to the increasing psycho-emotional tensity degree influenced by a stressor.

6.1.4.2. While interpreting the results you can use the universal diagnostic scale 2.5 of appendix 2.

6.1.5. Some possible ways of practical usage of methods and results of the diagnostics

6.1.5.1. Psycho-emotional steadiness is a necessary quality in most professions. That’s why the diagnostics of psycho-emotional steadiness is important in the personnel selecting process.

6.1.5.2. During the professional training the results of psycho-emotional stability diagnostics should be used for creating a feedback in the formation of this steadiness.

§2. The diagnostics of reliability in extreme situations

6.2.1. General description

Reliability in extreme situations is a person’s ability of faultless, stable and exact carrying out of the given task in terms of extreme situation.

The structure of reliability consists of psycho-emotional steadiness, training, self-regulation and stability.

The notion of reliability is supplemented with the index of FAH (CFAH) changes under the influence of the stressor. This index reflects essential peculiarities of individual reactions to extreme situation.

As the diagnostics of reliability should be carried out regarding the above mentioned components of its structure, we’ll give a detailed description of these components and the ways of their diagnostics.

6.2.1.1. Psycho-emotional steadiness and its diagnostics are described in the previous paragraph. In the context of reliability the diagnostics of psycho-emotional steadiness should be carried out in accordance to the procedure of the diagnostics of integral index of reliability in extreme situation due to the methods set forth below.

6.2.1.2. Training is a synthesis of special knowledge, skills and habits which help you to carry out the work properly.

Training gives the opportunity of a qualified fulfilling of any job both under extreme and usual conditions. The more difficult the activity is, the more training it needs. In comparison with the other components of reliability training differs by its variativity, for each kind of activity needs a specific training.

The diagnostics of training is brought about using the method of expert estimation described in the next chapter.

6.2.1.3. Stability and its diagnostics is described in §3 of this chapter.

6.2.1.4. The methods of self-regulation diagnostics are described in chapter VIII. In the context of reliability diagnostics much attention should be paid to the diagnostics of self-regulation of psychic states, activation and FAH. That’s why the procedure of reliability diagnostics include measuring of these parameters.

6.2.1.5. The main index of a person’s reliability in extreme situation is faultlessness of his activity under extreme conditions. First of all the question is a faultlessness of psycho-motive realization of this activity, under extreme conditions. This factor serves as a basis of the methods and the procedure of the diagnostics of reliability integral index in extreme situation.
