The Problem
The restrictions of energy production in parallel on the electricity grid network necessitate coupling and uncoupling processes conforming to the French Electricity Board's specifications. The availability of the installation must be increased and the sequencing of operations fully automated. As for intervention for maintenance purposes, given the inaccessibility of the site, they must be reduced to a minimum.
The Solution
The automated system's process functions were given over to a TSX 47-20 PC. A permanent battery/ inverter supply ensures sufficient autonomy to cope with events such as the turbine stopping or mains failure. The power of this PC also enables it to manage production data and to be assigned communication functions with the operator. In this way the PC takes into account the following tasks :
• feeding chamber level adjustment, from data supplied by capacitive probes (acting on the deflector injector solenoid valves controls...).
• supervision of the generator's bearing and winding temperature thresholds...
• starting and stopping sequences, voltage and power adjustment, control of the medium voltage unit for coupling to the grid, control of capacitor banks...
• operating mode control, particularly fault elimination and automatic restarting after mains failure...
• energy metering...
• printout of occurrences on a printer
• local dialogue via an XBT terminal or remote dialogue via a modem and a P & T switched terminal network, using a simple telecommunications terminal (display of numerical values and faults present, modification of parameters such as starting power, or reduced power, time-delay for the injector opening/closing signal, etc...).
Etablissements Hennequin's desire to integrate automation skills to their range and the knowledge of the field brought by Telemecanique, make the Scionzier power station an exemplary demonstration of a working partnership.
