- При переводе утвердительных предложений в косвенную речь порядок слов не меняется. Меняется только форма подлежащего в зависимости от реальных участников ситуации и, соответственно, форма сказуемого.

- Косвенная речь вводится глаголами to say, to tell, to announce и to inform (в официальной речи).

Глаголы to say и to announce не требуют обязательного адресата речи, а с глаголами to tell и to inform адресат обязателен.

- После глаголов to say и to announce адресат, если он указан, употребляется с предлогом to.

- Глаголы tell и to inform требуют беспредложного дополнения адресата.
