Text b. Fashion Accessories
Jewellery is the key to expressing one’s individuality and can dramatically change the look of the entire outfit. More than any other fashion accessory, jewellery comes and goes in cycles. It must be in proportion to the clothes that a woman wears. Jewellery is a secondary accessory which is recommended to buy only after the wardrobe has been put together. As a general rule, women and girls with pale skin look better in silver, as do those with silver-grey hair. Silver jewellery also complements clothes worn in shades of grey, blue, black and white.
Gold jewellery looks better on those with yellow-based skins and with honey, ivory, brown and beige clothing. Gold is warm and throws soft light on to the skin. But for those who dislike both gold and silver, pearls, particulary pearl earrings, are a useful accessory. They suit every complexion and can be worn with all clothing, regardless of colour.
Belts should be present in every wardrobe. Leather belts are the most practical and will last longer than those made of fabric. A belt can make or break the outfit and has the same impact as a piece of jewellery. The focal point of every belt is the buckle. Gold or silver jewellery should be complemented with the buckle of the same colour. Simple buckles work best. The colour of the belt should match the shoes one wears to make the outfit look coordinated. A choice of four to six belts in one’s wardrobe will probably be sufficient.
