Имя прилагательное (the adjective) Степени сравнения прилагательных
В английском языке имена прилагательные не изменяется ни по родам, ни по числам, ни по падежам. Как и в русском языке, они имеют три степени сравнения: положительную, сравнительную и превосходную. Сравнительная степень используется для сравнения двух людей, вещей, мест и т.д. Превосходная – для сравнения человека или предмета с общей группой, к которой они принадлежат.
Прилагательные, состоящие из одного слога и некоторые двусложные прилагательные (оканчивающиеся на –y, -er, -ow, -le; имеющие ударение на втором слоге и некоторые другие) образуются с помощью суффикса – er (для сравнительной степени сравнения) и определенного артикля the и суффикса – est (для превосходной):

Примечание: При образовании степеней сравнения следует помнить орфографические правила:
а) если прилагательное оканчивается на «немое -е», то когда образуются степени сравнения, оно опускается:

б) если прилагательное оканчивается на – y, перед которой стоит согласная, то – y меняется на – i:
easy – easier – the easiest
в) если прилагательное состоит из одного слога, этот слог заканчивается на согласную, и перед ней стоит краткий гласный звук, то конечная согласная удваивается:

Большинство двусложных прилагательных и все многосложные прилагательные образуются при помощи добавления слов more (сравнительная степень) и the most (превосходная степень) перед прилагательными в положительной степени сравнения:

Обычно при сравнении двух предметов, людей, животных и т.д. (т.е. при использовании сравнительной степени сравнения) используется союз than.

С прилагательными в сравнительной степени иногда используется слово much.

При употреблении превосходной степени сравнения часто используются предлоги of/in.

7. Для сравнения двух предметов одинакового качества(размера, формы и т.д.) в утвердительных предложениях употребляется конструкция: as + прилагательное + as…. В отрицательных употребляется конструкция: not so + прилагательное + as….
