Учебно-методическое пособие предназначено для студентов направления 02010068 «Химия», профили подготовки «Химия нефти и экологическая безопасность», «Физико-химический анализ природных и технических систем в макро- и наносостояниях».
Целью пособия является развитие профессионально-ориентированных коммуникативных иноязычных навыков и умений, способствующих осуществлению профессиональных задач, реализации научно-практического обмена с зарубежными коллегами в рамках профессиональной деятельности.
Пособие включает 3 раздела, а также различные приложения и библиографию.
Рекомендовано к изданию кафедрой иностранных языков и межкультурной профессиональной коммуникации естественно-научных направлений ТюмГУ. Утверждено Учебно-методической комиссией Института физики и химии.

Пояснительная записка
Учебно-методическое пособие English for Chemistry предназначено для магистрантов химического направления 02010068 «Химия», профили подготовки «Химия нефти и экологическая безопасность», «Физико-химический анализ природных и технических систем в макро- и наносостояниях».
Целью пособия является обучение английскому языку магистрантов для решения профессиональных задач и осуществления профессиональной коммуникации, что предполагает формирование и совершенствование коммуникативных умений как в устной, так и в письменной речи.
Поскольку одной из задач пособия является совершенствование навыков чтения и перевода литературы профессионального характера, в пособие включен аутентичный материал научной проблематики в области химии и задействованы межпредметные связи с профильными дисциплинами, изучаемыми в магистратуре.
Пособие составлено в соответствии с рекомендациями ФГОС ВПО по подготовке магистров и содержанием рабочей программы « Иностранный язык в профессиональной сфере(английский) для студентов направления 02010068 «Химия».
Пособие состоит из трех разделов: «MASTER’S DEGREE AND YOUR FUTURE CAREER» (Степень магистра и будущая карьера), «SCIENTIFIC AND RESEARCH ACTIVITIES» (Научно-исследовательская деятельность), «HIGH-TECH CHEMISTRY» (Химия высоких технологий), приложений и библиографии. Разделы включают тексты и сопровождающие задания, направленные на расширение запаса активной профессиональной лексики. Коммуникативные задания подобраны с учетом лексико-грамматического материала, моделирующего будущую профессиональную деятельность магистрантов. Уроки содержат информацию о методике написания кратких аннотаций к научным статьям, создании презентаций и выступлении на научно-практических конференциях. Содержание приложений способствует самостоятельному освоению предложенного учебного материала.
Пособие может быть использовано на аудиторных занятиях, а также для самостоятельной подготовки магистрантов.

Honours Degree – a British university degree that is above the basic level in one or two particular subjects
Master’s Degree - second academic honors.
Master of Science (M.Sc./M.S.) - an advanced academic degree in subjects of science (chemistry, biology, etc.)
Master of Arts (M.A.) - an advanced academic degree in humanities (languages, history, psychology, etc.)
Master course / Master’s programme (BrE) = Graduate courses / Graduate school (AmE)

Master’s Degree students = Graduate students – those who do a master (degree)
thesis/dissertation – a paper devoted to someone’s personal research present for a university degree
present a master's thesis – defend a thesis; maintain one’s thesis for a degree
take master's degree/ proceed to the degree of M. A. – get/earn a master’s degree
adviser/supervisor – a person responsible for consulting students on academic matters.
