The main stages in recruitment process

Employment is a relationship between two parties, usually based on a contract, one being the employer and the other being the employee. And recruitment refers to the overall process of attracting, selecting and appointing suitable candidates for jobs within an organization.

There are two major types of recruitment, those of internal and external.

Procedures of recruitment in most companies are similar. If there is a vacancy, the company prepares job description to fill it. After that the Human Resource office decides on the way and means of recruitment. The next stage is to shortlist the most suitable candidates by looking through number of received resumes. Sometimes companies develop their own application forms to receive particular information about prospective employees. Some firms may include questions about attitude to smoking, political views and even astrological signs. Shortlisted candidates are invited to an interview. Job interviews demand preparation from both sides. For the candidate it means a kind of research about the company’s activities and etiquette, while for the interviewer it usually means identifying the real need of the company.

“Professional interviewees” identify a number of so-called “difficult” ones. These are questions about weaknesses, reasons for leaving your previous job and future salary.

However, interviewing can be delegated to special recruitment agencies. The employment service screens applicants for the firm by giving special tests. Passing scores indicate the applicant's ability to learn the work. So, managers must be as specific as they can about the skills they want

To sum up I’d like to say that recruiting process is very important for companies because it provides staff which is necessary for business activity.

The most important thing is to have a clear and full briefing from the clients. So it's necessary to talk to your clients before starting.

Such organizations usually use three different sorts of methods for identifying candidates. One is advertisement in newspapers or journals. The second is by asking for nominations from within the client organization of appropriate candidates. And the third, and the most labor-intensive is their original research. And that will be derived from their own database, from talking to authoritative sources and from the particular business sector.

All three methods of identifying candidates will cross-reference, and ideally headhunters would like to find candidates who are sourced from each of the three areas.

It’s always very valuable for headhunters to be able to speak to experts, people from the media, commentators, academics who have wide networks of their own, that are independent from any single client organization. This people can give independent view of the skills and abilities of some candidates. And on the other hand they may show the level of candidates’ ability.

What is important for someone planning an ambitious business career? First is an honest understanding of the individuals own strengths and weaknesses. It allows to plan the sort of organization and to react rapidly to opportunities that are unplanned. Second is curiosity that means to remain interested in the core essence of one’s business.

To sum up I’d like to say that recruiting process is very important for companies because it provides staff which is necessary for the success of the company.
