Разработка по ознакомительному чтению на материале текста «The Luncheon» по книге для чтения к учебнику Happy English 2

Предтекстовый этап.

1. Look at the wordlist below and read them aloud one by one.

2. Children, look at the title of the text. Are there any ideas what the text is about?

3. Now look at the pictures in the beginning and in the end of the text. Can you see any differences? Why do you think the woman looks differently?

4. Read the first passage of the text without paying attention to the unknown words and say what you understood.

Текстовый этап.

1. Read the last passage of the text and say what the text is about.

2. Now read the whole text and determine the main idea if each passage

3. Divide the text into three parts.

Послетекстовый этап.

1. Mark the statements True or False and explain what wrong with the false statements is.

2. Make up a plan for the text using sentences from the text.

3. Answer the questions please:

A. Why did the young man agree to give the lady a luncheon despite the fact that he was short of money?

B. Why do you think the narrator did not refuse to pay the bill?

C. What do you think of the lady’s phrase “I never eat anything for luncheon”? What did she say it for?

D. What would you do if you found yourself in such a situation?

E. Have you ever had such experience?

4. Imagine you are the young man from the text and you have met the lady at the play. Make up a dialogue and dramatize it.

5. Write a short story describing your own experience of going to a restaurant or a cafe. Use the text as a model and your answers from the exercise 2.

6. Write a new ending for the text.
