  1. There are different ways of expressing the future in English.

    1. we use ‘ll (will)+infinitive for ideas and possibilities that we are not sure about (predictions, decisions, offers, promises);

    2. we use be going to+infinitive for things we want to do, plan to do;

    3. we use the Present Continuous for things we have already made plans for.

Choose the correct future form in these sentences.

  1. Is that the phone? – Oh yes. I’m going to / I’ll answer it.

  2. OK … Right … Goodbye. I’m going to / I’ll phone you later … Yeah … OK … Bye!

  3. She won’t pass / isn’t passing her exam in Math if she doesn’t concentrate.

  6. Tea or coffee? – I’m going to / I’ll have a coffee, please.

And tomorrow’s weather … Starting off in the north of the Kola peninsular, where there will be quite a bit of sun on the west coast (the Pechenga region), but it will be cloudy and windy over on the east coast. The region of Murmansk and Olenegorsk will be mainly dry with a lot of sun. The temperature will be rather high for this season. But the temperatures drop as we get nearer Kirovsk and Apatity. The south coast, the region of Kandalaksha, will be cold and damp tomorrow with a lot of rain – in fact it’ll probably rain for the whole weekend in the south and south-east. There will be no rain tomorrow in the south-west (Kovdor region), but it will be very cloudy for most of the day. But the region will be wet and rainy for most of the weekend. And finally, good news for those living in the west and north-west – there will be sunshine all weekend.
