个 (gè) is used generally:

• 一个事件     (yī gè shì jiàn - one incident)

场 (cháng) is used for conflicts and catastrophes:

• 一场球赛     (yī cháng qiú sài - one ballgame)

顿 (dùn) is used for interpersonal conflicts:
