A stipendiary is a full-time paid magistrate who has qualified as a lawyer. A lay magistrate is unpaid and is an established member of the local community. A circuit is a geographical division for legal purposes; England and Wales are divided into six.

A recorder is a part-time judge with ten years standing as a barrister or solicitor. A barrister is a lawyer in Britain who can argue cases in the higher law courts. A solicitor is a type of lawyer in Great Britain who gives legal advice, prepares the necessary documents when property is bought or sold, and defends people, especially in the lower courts of law.

Law Lords are members of the British House of Lords who hold high positions in the legal profession, and form the highest court in the British legal system. The Lord Chancellor is a speaker of House of Lords, a member of the Cabinet and the judge with the highest judicial authority

A coroner is an official whose job is to discover the cause of someone death, especially if they died in a sudden or unusual way.

A county is an area of a state or country that has its own government to deal with local matters.
