Where should получают визу на въезд в Россию?

Russian visas should be obtained from (= в) Российском посольстве или консульстве in a traveller’s country заблаговременно до начала поездки.

What documents do you need to get a visa?

You need паспорт с неистекшим сроком действия (т.е. действительный), an official application form, confirmation of your забронированном номере в гостинице and three passport photographs.

How long does it take to get a visa?

If you apply individually it может уйти месяц or so. If an applicant совершает деловую поездку or has a письменное приглашение from a Russian host this term can be shortened to 48 hours.

What types of visas should you get?

There are several: transit visas, tourist, ordinary and многократная visas.

What is the difference between these types of visas?

Transit visas действительны for 48 hours. If you go to Russia по приглашению of your relatives or friends, you will get a visa for a private journey (the so called "guest" visa). Independent tourists should have their trip organised through an Intourist accredited agent ("tourist" visa) or their Russian hosts.

The sponsoring school. It is responsible for registering the visa and получение выездной визы. Student visas are allowed only на один въезд.

What else do I have to know?

You need an itinerary listing in detail, times, places and overnight бронь в гостинице.You should carry your passport at all times while you are in Russia. Without it you might be prohibited from entering your hotel, the embassy of your country and many other places. Besides, there may be выборочная проверка документов by police.

For what length is a visa действительна?

Срок действия визы is indicated by two dates written in the European style (day, month, year). They reflect the earliest day a traveller may enter Russia; and the last day he is permitted to be in Russia.

What office should travellers contact if they experience entry and exit visa problems?

They must contact the nearest ОВИР for assistance.

Do I need a health certificate?

Cholera and tetanus vaccinations may be required. Visitors from any AIDS-infected regions may be subjected to an AIDS test.

What are the requirements for a longer stay?

Any person applying for a visa на срок более, чем три месяца must present a certificate showing that they are HIV-negative¹.

What data must the medical certificate contain?

The certificate must contain паспортные данные заявителя, предполагаемый срок пребывания in Russia, результат анализа крови на ВИЧ-инфекцию, including date of the test, подпись врача, проводившего анализ, medical examination results, diagnostic series and seal of the medical organization.
