May 27, 2009 in the City of Sochi the ceremonial event devoted to the construction beginning of the combined (rail and traffic) road from Adler to Krasnaya Polyana (mountain resort Alpika - Servis) took Place. According to the project, it’s planned to construct the combined (rail and traffic) road 49 km in length. Six Tunnel systems are planned to be constructed along this combined road, including:

- 6 railway tunnels with the total length of 10 408,5 m;

- 3 traffic tunnels with the total length of 7 697,8 m;

- 3 service tunnels with the total length of 9 328,7 m.

Together with these tunnels 28 bridges, 28 two-level and 59 car traffic overpasses (транспортные путепроводы) as well as three new train stations – Imeretinsky kurort, Esto-Sadok, Alpika-Servis will be constructed along this combined road. Also, the existing Sochi, Adler and Veseloe stations will be reconstructed.

According to the construction schedule approved by the International Olympic Committee (IOC), the whole project should be constructed within five years. The combined road from Adler to Alpika – Servis should be commissioned not later than the 3rd quarter of 2013.
