I have planted a lot of new rose bushes.

The Present Perfect Simple and not the Present Perfect Cont. is always chosen for stative verbs which are not used in the cont-s aspect. Thus ‘I have known Mr. Mason for some time’ is unacceptable in English. The correct form here would be I have known Mr. Mason for some time.

With certain non-terminative verbs such as live, work, teach, feel, learn, study either the Present Perfect Cont. or the Present Perfect Simple are used with no difference in meaning.
