There are a lot of museums in the USA. New York is rich for museums. The Metropolitan Museum of Art has great collections from all over the world. Guggenheim Museum has one of the finest collections of Modern and contemporary art. It was, designed by the famous architecture Frank Lloyd-Wright, The Museum of Natural History.

I would like to tell about SciTech, the Science and Technology Museum of Atlanta.

The museum has over 100 exhibits. Each exhibit is designed for them to do more than just look at it. They can actually experiment with the equipment to learn more about science. One of exhibit halls is the Hall of Simple Machines.

They also have a Hall of Electricity and Magnetism, a Hall of Light, Color and Perception and a special area for children under the of 7 which called “Kid space”.

They perform their science shows while the museum is open for all of their visitors. They have performances and demonstrations about electricity, bubbles and Newton’s Laws of Motion.

The museum also has a summer camp where children come to spend the day having fun with science and an overnight camp in program for all-night science excitement.

On selected weekend during the year, the museum is also the site where Atlanta residents can bring items to be recycled and to learn more about how recycling can help the environment.

Everyone in the museum recycles everything possible at work. The waste paper is all saved for recycling. Every time they recycle, they save the energy, waste and pollution associated with production from raw material. They also teach classes for students and their teachers about their precious water resources and how to preserve them.

There are many museums and galleries in Russia. The largest museums of Moscow are the Pushkin Museum of Fine Arts and the State Tretyakov Gallery.

The Pushkin Museum of Fine Arts in Moscow, whose collection includes works of art of the ancient Orient and ancient Egypt, of antiquity and Western Europe, ranks 2^nd in size after the famous Hermitage in St. Petersburg. It was founded in 1912 as a museum of plaster moulds on the initiative of Ivan Tsvetayev. The Tretyakov Gallery is a major research, artistic, cultural and education centre in Russia and a museum of Russian art. It was founded in 1856 by the merchant Pavel Tretyakov.

Tretyakov was very strict in selecting pictures. Thus, old paintings and icons were the subject of his collection. He began to buy pictures from the Peredvizhniki and in the 80^s he support the young generation of artists. They were Levitan, Serov, Korovin, Nesterov and others.

Tretyakov was very careful in choosing the place for his pictures for them not to lose their beauty.

The icons were collected in a home church.

After the reconstruction in 1995 the Gallery became a very large art place. Here the visitors can see Andrei Rublev’s Trinity (1422-1427), masterpieces of the 18^th and 19^th centuries.

Among the painters whose works are exhibited in the Gallery you can see of famous painter Kramskoi (1837-1887). His portraits of Leo Tolstoy, Nekrasov and an “Unknown woman” attract great attention.

L.Levitan (1860-1900) was famous for his landscapes. Being long of Russian nature he reproduced it in paintings well-known and dear to everybody Kuinji, Aivazovski and Levitan founded a school of realistic landscape painting.
