Vocabulary

To have particular / vague plans for the future, intend to do smth, to think of doing smth, to apply for a job, application letter, covering letter, CV, resume, to enclose, applicant, candidate, to be interviewed for a job, to arrange an interview, to be available, advantages / disadvantages to a job, to be fully qualified, to train as (a surgeon, an accountant, a social worker etc.), to be experienced / inexperienced, to be responsible for, to have lots of responsibilities, to have a lot of job opportunities, to work for / at / with / as, to work from home, to be self-employed, office work, to recruit for positions, employment agency, vacancy, management and office staff, to look forward to doing smth, to earn money

Job: well-paid / badly paid; challenging, stressful, hard work physically, work long hours / shifts, training and qualifications, skills, job satisfaction, variety, creative, accountant, lawyer, designer, receptionist, architect, tiring, rewarding, full-time / part-time job, duties, salary, benefits, flexible, temporary position, be suited / not suited for a job

Questions for discussion:

  1. What jobs do you know? What are they like?

  2. If you could choose any job in the world, what would you choose? Why?

  3. Can you think of any jobs that you would particularly hate to do? Why?

  4. Are there any jobs that women or men are naturally better suited for?

  5. What job are you suited for? Why?

  6. Will you apply for this job? What will you write in your CV?

  7. Do you know how to behave at the interview for a job?

  8. What are your positive and negative points (strengths and weaknesses)?

  9. What are the advantages and disadvantages to the job you like?

  10. What are the responsibilities? What does the job involve? Will you have job satisfaction?

  11. What skills are useful / essential? Why is it essential to have plenty of experience?

  12. Do you expect to be well-paid? What salary is most likely to be offered to you?

  13. Will it be a problem to find a vacancy? Are there many job opportunities for you?

  14. What qualification is in great demand nowadays?

  15. Will you need to have fluent language skills to make a good career?

Критерии оценки ответа на экзамене.

  1. Уровень владения языком (активной лексикой и грамматикой) конкретного УМК (Cutting Edge III). Правильное и сознательное использование разнообразных моделей. Количество фраз, соответствующих пройденным моделям.

  2. Логически связное и чётко структурированное высказывание по теме. Содержание, отвечающее теме или ситуации.

  3. Владение техникой пересказа. Умение отличать главное от второстепенного (сжимать длинное в более краткое без потери ключевых слов и идей).

  4. Степень свободы: умение быстро продуцировать неподготовленные высказывания с использованием изученного материала, адекватная реакция на вопросы преподавателя. Персонализация высказываний (собственные, оригинальные идеи и мнения).

  5. Предварительная оценка (работа в течение года, качество выполнения тестов, в том числе экзаменационных).
