Healthy Food

In my opinion, it’s very important to eat healthy food because food is the main source of energy for our body. Not all kinds of food are useful and junk food can even do harm to your health. For example, fast food makes you fat, and fat is believed to be one of the major causes of obesity and heart disease. On the contrary, healthy food contains the right balance of protein, fat and carbohydrates and is rich in vitamins.

In recent years eating habits have changed. People are encouraged to eat less fat and more fibre. High fibre foods and low fat foods can now be found in all shops and supermarkets. Moreover, now we have an opportunity to eat healthy dishes from international cuisine. Dishes from China, for instance, use very little oil and are much healthier than the usual way of frying. Another example is spicy foods from India, which clean out the body’s system and help fight illnesses.

Many people feel they are too fat, even if their doctors disagree. Perhaps, the most popular way to lose weight is following a diet. On the one hand, it is good if you cut out snacks and desserts and cut down on fat. On the other hand, excessive dieting may be dangerous, because people cut out foods which are necessary for their health. For example, some people refuse to eat meat as they consider it harmful. I can’t agree with them because meat is an excellent source of good nutrition. In my opinion, it’s wrong to put down a food simply because excessive amounts can cause health problems.

As for me, I try to eat only low-fat food, fruit and vegetables, which are rich in vitamins. I don’t have a sweet tooth so I’m indifferent to chocolates and cakes. Besides, I want to have healthy teeth. My favourite dish is fish and potatoes. Fish is very tasty and it is an excellent source of phosphorus. Of course I sometimes go to McDonalds. I enjoy eating Big Mac but I don’t do it very often because I understand that it is junk food.

To sum up, I want to say that if we want to stay healthy, we should eat only healthy food.

TECHNOLOGY

We can’t imagine our lives without advanced technology such as computers or electronic equipment. All these inventions make our lives more comfortable.

There is no doubt that technology has a lot of advantages. Now, with computers and email we can easily stay in touch with friends and relatives all over the world. Besides, we can travel from one place to another quickly and safely. What is more, with the Internet, travel becomes a different experience. Information on timetables, tickets and possible delays is constantly available. However, new ways of communication is not the only advantage of technology. First of all, the quality of medical service has dramatically improved due to technology. Today we have got medical equipment that can detect and cure serious diseases. Moreover, technology is an important part in the film industry today.

Nevertheless, technology has some disadvantages. First of all, some of these inventions are very harmful to our health as they produce radiation which can cause cancer. Moreover, technology makes us lazy. For instance, there are several cases when pupils can’t do simple Maths without a calculator. Besides, many teenagers would rather spend their free time in front of their computers than go for a walk with friends. It’s not healthy at all. Unfortunately, the situation is becoming worse and worse. If we continue to use technology so much, we won’t leave our flats at all and will become couch potatoes.

As for me, I can’t imagine my life without technology. I like to watch TV because it helps me to stay up-to-date with the news. I also use my computer and mobile phone every day. I use the Internet to find information, to communicate with my friends and to download interesting files. Also, I use my computer and the Internet for my school work and projects.

In conclusion, I’d like to say that technology plays an important part in our everyday lives. However, we should use technology to make our lives easier, not to destroy our way of life. I believe that if we use it correctly, our life will be easier.
